Q. My cat is three years old. I have had him since he was a kitten. Recently, he decided to stop using the litter box! Do you know what the problem might be?
A. Many environmental factors could cause a change in your cat's litter box habits:
-Have you changed the brand of cat litter?
-Have you moved the location of the litter box?
-Are new cats using the litter box?
Any of the mentioned reasons might contribute to your cat's new behavior. Patterns, locations, and duration are all important in diagnosing and resolving inappropriate elimination behaviors.
New behaviors and routines also may signal a number of feline health issues or illnesses. If you cannot determine the cause of the sudden change in your cat's habits, contact your veterinarian immediately.
