Principles

The following are the principles that we abide by:

  1. No-Kill: We do not euthanize for space, but we will euthanize if a cat is suffering and there is no reasonable hope of improvement. All decisions to euthanize a cat will be made by the shelter management team.
  2. Shelter: We provide a place of protection and refuge, where a cat can live comfortably until it is adopted or lives out its life.
  3. Cagelessness: After a cat is deemed ready for adoption by our veterinarian, it will be housed in a room with other cats. The only time a cat will be caged is during its intake isolation period, if it is or becomes ill or injured, or for the safety of other cats.
  4. Care: We deal with individual cats, not statistics. Each cat will be provided with a high quality of life, including:
    1. All necessary and recommended medical care
    2. Fresh food and water
    3. Clean, attractive and sanitary housing
    4. Appropriate number of litterboxes
    5. Sufficient space to live, play and sleep comfortably
    6. Access to private space
    7. Fresh air and sunlight
    8. Activities and toys for physical and mental stimulation
    9. Daily human interaction
    10. Dignity and respect
  5. Spay or Neuter: We spay or neuter each cat before it goes into a new home, unless otherwise recommended by our veterinarian
  6. Respect: Every person who comes into the Simply Cats Adoption Center is treated with respect, regardless of the reason for visiting.
